Your French Country Village Home
"La Bastide" is a traditional stone house located in the heart of our 13th Century village and only a few steps from the central Medieval market place. The minute you enter the town by any of its three arched gateways you feel there is something special and exciting in the air; a confident charm about the shops and the people that is not lost on any visitor to this ancient bastide which is so authentically picturesque that it has often been used as a backdrop for features films including one starring Matt Damon!
SUITS: one to three couples or a family of up to six.
Substantially and sensitively renovated in early 2013, this traditional French country village house stands on the corner of a quiet street and a charming "carreyou" (small lane), and is built from a mixture of ash and honey coloured stone. Solid and imposing, with walls over two feet thick, its façade boasts a beautiful double entrance door surmounted by a crest, another larger quadruple French door and, higher up, a graceful window looking out onto the street. There are three levels. The living area is on the ground level; two bedrooms and a bathroom are on the middle level; and there are an additional two beds and bathroom on the open plan top level, in a converted attic (“grenier”). With its thick ancient stone walls, the house is cool in Summer and the automatic electric central heating makes it cosy and inviting in Winter. The house is ideal for a couple, two couples or a family of up to six.
Parking is available just outside the house.
Parking within the village is easy as the streets are well designed
and only locals and our guests park within the walls.
